SACRAMENTO, Calif. >> A suspect on the run since a mass taking pictures left six people lifeless throughout an alleged gang dispute in California’s capital metropolis final month has been arrested in Las Vegas, authorities stated.

Investigators believe Mtula Payton was one of many alleged gang members who opened hearth in downtown Sacramento on April 3. He was taken into custody at an house advanced, the Sacramento Police Department said in an announcement Saturday night.

“Las Vegas Metro Police Division worked with our detectives for weeks in an effort to find Payton,” the assertion said.

It wasn’t recognized Sunday if Payton has an attorney who might speak on his behalf.

Payton and two others, brothers Smiley Martin and Dandrae Martin, were charged this month with murder in the slayings, in addition to weapons offenses.

Investigators provided no motive but said in court paperwork that Smiley Martin and his companions recorded a web based video hours earlier than the taking pictures, flashing guns and speaking trash from a location in rival gang territory. In it, they state their plans to go to the downtown area with the intent of opening fire.

Three males alleged to be gang members and three girls who were harmless bystanders died within the shootout that occurred as patrons of bars and nightclubs emptied out onto downtown streets. A dozen more individuals were wounded.

The Martin brothers, who were among the many wounded, remain jailed. Attorneys for the brothers have yet to touch upon their charging.

Payton, who police say is a member of a rival gang, was being held in a Nevada jail pending transport back to California.
