Gabe Kapler: ‘I do not plan on popping out for the anthem going ahead until I feel better about the direction of our country’

Speaking within the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler mentioned, "I do not plan on coming out for the anthem going forward till I feel better in regards to the route of our nation."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mom in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her children. They blocked parents attempting to organize to cost in to cease the shooter, including a father who learned his daughter was murdered while he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians determine that the lobbyist and gun industries are extra important than our kids's freedom to go to school without needing bulletproof backpacks and active shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he called "the shortage of delivery of the promise of what our national anthem represents."

"I am not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I might have demonstrated what I learned from my dad, that if you're dissatisfied along with your nation, you let it's known via protest. The home of the courageous ought to encourage this."

Kerr refused to speak about basketball ahead of Sport 4 of the Warriors' sequence in opposition to the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute raising his voice as he railed towards gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's shooting.

"Within the final 10 days, we've had aged Black people killed in a grocery store in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we have children murdered at college," Kerr informed reporters firstly of the press conference.

"When are we going to do one thing? I am drained. I am so uninterested in getting up right here and offering condolences to the devastated families which might be out there ... I'm tired of the moments of silence. Enough."
