Speaking in the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler stated, "I don't plan on popping out for the anthem going ahead till I feel better about the path of our nation."

In a weblog submit, Kapler questioned whether or not the country's leadership is committed to representing its people's finest pursuits and whether or not the US is actually "the land of the free and the home of the courageous."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mom in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her kids. They blocked mother and father attempting to arrange to cost in to stop the shooter, including a father who discovered his daughter was murdered whereas he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians resolve that the lobbyist and gun industries are more essential than our children's freedom to go to high school without needing bulletproof backpacks and energetic shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he known as "the lack of delivery of the promise of what our nationwide anthem represents."

"I'm not okay with the state of this country. I want I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I could have demonstrated what I realized from my dad, that once you're dissatisfied together with your country, you let it be identified via protest. The home of the brave ought to encourage this."

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action towards gun violence in the USA.

Kerr refused to talk about basketball forward of Game 4 of the Warriors' sequence in opposition to the Dallas Mavericks, instead elevating his voice as he railed against gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's shooting.

"Within the last 10 days, we have had elderly Black people killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we have had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we've got children murdered at college," Kerr informed reporters initially of the press conference.

"When are we going to do one thing? I am drained. I am so uninterested in getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families which can be out there ... I'm bored with the moments of silence. Enough."
