The family of an 11-year-old woman who survived the bloodbath at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday says the 4th grader performed dead after the gunman entered her classroom.

Miah Cerrillo's aunt and godmother said the 4th grader is struggling to cope and telling them what she witnessed during the shooting.

"Round midnight my sister-in-law known as me and she was just crying, like 'I feel it just hit Miah. I think all the things got here to reality now,'" said Blanca Rivera.

Rivera mentioned Miah's trainer, Irma Garcia, was one of many two lecturers killed. Her buddies and classmates were also focused.

Rivera stated that is when Miah went into survival mode.

"Miah obtained some blood and put it on herself so she could pretend she was dead," stated Rivera. "It's too much for me to play that scene time and again, however that is what my sister-in-law stated is that she saw her buddy full of blood and she obtained blood and put it on herself."

Miah was injured but taken to the hospital and has been released.

"My brother mentioned she had bullet fragments in her back," mentioned Rivera.

Rivera, a mom of three, mentioned the household is rallying round Miah to assist her get well physically, emotionally and spiritually.

"At this level, we simply have to pray and ask God to help us transfer forward via this example, I know it is traumatizing as it's," stated Rivera.
