Florida man will get life in jail for touring to Vietnam to sexually abuse minors – WFTV

TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for traveling to Vietnam to sexually abuse minors he met on-line, in accordance with officers.

The U.S. Division of Justice says Christopher Edwin Day, 52, traveled two totally different instances in 2015 and 2016 to Vietnam from Florida to have sexual encounters with minor Vietnamese boys. Court records say he flew back and forth disguising himself as an English teacher.

A number of the boys, in keeping with the DOJ, had been lured with guarantees of cash and gifts. Others launched him as their English trainer.

The Tampa Bay News says Homeland Security investigated the case in Tampa and in Ho Chi Minh Metropolis. It was a part of Project Safe Childhood, which was an effort to find child sex abuse started in 2006 by the DOJ.

“The legal guidelines of the USA will still catch as much as baby predators who even journey to overseas nations to sexually abuse minor youngsters. Thanks to HSI’s worldwide investigative authorities and robust partnerships, each at HSI Tampa and HSI Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, this sexual predator was stopped from harming more children and his victim could have the justice they deserve,” said HSI Tampa Assistant Special Agent in Cost John Dumas, in keeping with a news release from stated HSI Tampa Assistant Special Agent in Charge John Dumas.

Day pleaded responsible to 2 counts of travel with intent to interact in illicit sexual conduct and two counts of tried coercion and enticement of a minor into illegal sexual activity, in response to the DOJ. Day has been sentenced to life in jail.
