Taliban chief orders women to put on all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s women to put on the all-covering burqa in public - one of many harshest controls imposed on girls’s lives since the Taliban seized energy.

“They need to wear a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it's conventional and respectful,” said a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a operate in Kabul.

“These girls who usually are not too old or young should cover their face, except the eyes, as per sharia directives, with a view to avoid provocation when meeting men who aren't mahram (grownup close male kinfolk),” the decree stated.

It added that if girls had no vital work outside it was “higher they stay at residence.”

During their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed related restrictions on girls.
