Nashville Public Library launches ‘Freedom to Read’ marketing campaign

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — It is a matter that is taken hold in Tennessee: books like "Maus" or "Walk Two Moons" have been pulled from cabinets.

While these books might be banned from some schools, there's still some other place yow will discover them.

"Our job is simply to make sure that if you would like it, it is here for you," mentioned Public Data Officer for the Nashville Public Library, Ed Brown.

"'Maus' is all checked out right now," stated Brown. "So we bought extra copies on order however as quickly as word received around about what happened in McMinn County, we bought a lot of holds."

These are just a few of the two million different materials at the Nashville Public Library.

The goal is to get the 5,000 library cards within the fingers of latest sign-ups this month.

"We aren't attempting to be a push again — a power pushing again against these selections — we wish to be an alternative choice to say, in the event you may not be able to get it there... you may get it right here," said Brown.

The restricted edition library cards can be found as long as supplies last.
