Afghanistan’s supreme leader and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s girls to wear the all-covering burqa in public - one of the harshest controls imposed on girls’s lives because the Taliban seized power.
“They should wear a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it's traditional and respectful,” stated a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a perform in Kabul.
“These girls who are not too outdated or younger must cover their face, besides the eyes, as per sharia directives, in an effort to avoid provocation when assembly men who are usually not mahram (adult close male family members),” the decree stated.
It added that if women had no necessary work outdoors it was “better they keep at dwelling.”
During their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed similar restrictions on girls.
