Taliban chief orders women to put on all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s ladies to put on the all-covering burqa in public - one of the harshest controls imposed on ladies’s lives because the Taliban seized energy.

“They need to put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it's conventional and respectful,” mentioned a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was released by Taliban authorities at a perform in Kabul.

“These ladies who usually are not too outdated or young must cowl their face, besides the eyes, as per sharia directives, in order to avoid provocation when meeting men who will not be mahram (grownup close male family members),” the decree mentioned.

It added that if girls had no important work outdoors it was “higher they keep at residence.”

Throughout their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed similar restrictions on girls.
