Supreme Court says wrongful dying lawsuit towards Dallas officers can go forward

DALLAS - The high court docket will allow a wrongful death lawsuit to proceed towards the town of Dallas and four police officers.

The household of a person who died in police custody in 2016 sued.

Tony Timpa referred to as police for help as he had a drug and mental health crisis.

The city fought against releasing body digital camera video and whit it did come out it was obvious why. It confirmed the officers mocking the dying man.

One had his knee on Timpa’s back and neck for practically 15 minutes and the medical examiner stated that contributed to his dying.

The city of Dallas argued the officers are legally protected from lawsuits.

The Supreme Court upheld a federal appeals courtroom’s ruling that can permit the case to proceed.

"The choice implies that the case can proceed to trial and that there can be no extra delays from any appellate court docket. Also, the decision means that the Fifth Circuit did it right that their ruling concerning lethal drive would be the legislation of the land at least in Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana for as long as we all know," mentioned Geoff Henley, an lawyer for Timpa’s family.
