KATHMANDU, Nepal -- A Nepali Sherpa broke her own file as the most successful female climber of Mount Everest by reaching the summit of the world's highest peak Thursday.

Lakpa Sherpa and several other other climbers took advantage of favorable climate to succeed in the 8,849-meter (29,032-foot) summit early within the morning, her brother and expedition organizer Mingma Gelu said. He mentioned she was in good health and was safely descending from the height.

Sherpa, 48, never bought an opportunity to get a formal training because she needed to begin incomes a living by carrying climbing gear and provides for trekkers.
