Dad or mum with hid weapon accidentally shoots self while at Arlington ISD college, police say

Arlington police said Duff Elementary School was placed on lockdown for a time Thursday after a mum or dad with a hid weapon had his gun by accident go off, hitting the father or mother in the leg.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police stated Duff Elementary Faculty was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a parent with a hid weapon had his gun by chance go off, hitting the father or mother within the leg.

The college had early launch and college students had been released on the deliberate time of 12:10 p.m.

In accordance with police, the mum or dad, identified as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and accidentally shot himself. His damage was not severe.

The school district stated White was contained in the constructing, close to the foyer space, and not in the hallway close to college students when the gun went off.

Police and faculty officers stated there was no threat made and the father or mother did not have "malicious intent."

No college students or staff have been injured. The father or mother was taken to an space hospital after being shot in the leg. 

Arlington Police Chief Al Jones mentioned after White was launched from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in prohibited places and discharge of a firearm in certain municipalities.

Arlington mother and father said their minds instantly considered the worst once they had been notified.

Rasheed stated Thursday was the graduation day for sixth grade college students at Duff Elementary.

"If one thing occurred, you’ve got to run wherever that’s protected and hide," she advised her baby.

While some say the incident in Uvalde is simply too recent to speak politics, Mitchell said one thing must be done now. 

"They need to talk about it, they want to marketing campaign on it, they need to fundraiser on it, however they don’t need to actually cross any legal guidelines and do anything," he added.
