Mike Tyson will not face fees in altercation with JetBlue passenger, district legal professional says

A California district lawyer declined to file costs Tuesday towards former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Lawyer Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police studies and videos of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no costs be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Workplace concluded its overview of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery in opposition to one other passenger on an airplane whereas ready on the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe mentioned in a press release.

"Our resolution is that we will not file any prices towards Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embrace the conduct of the victim main up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the sufferer, as well as the requests of each the victim and Mr. Tyson that no costs be filed in this case," Wagstaffe said.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the individual was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what occurred before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file costs by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and legislation enforcement businesses "for his or her careful, diligent, and professional work."
