Mike Tyson won’t face prices in altercation with JetBlue passenger, district legal professional says

A California district lawyer declined to file charges Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe made the decision after having reviewed police studies and movies of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no expenses be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Workplace concluded its evaluate of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery in opposition to one other passenger on an airplane while ready on the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe said in an announcement.

"Our choice is that we will not file any expenses towards Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embrace the conduct of the victim leading as much as the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of both the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no charges be filed on this case," Wagstaffe mentioned.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, showing to attempt to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the individual was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what happened earlier than the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file prices by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and legislation enforcement agencies "for their cautious, diligent, and professional work."
