BARNSTEAD, N.H. -- A man was arrested Friday after multiple signs saying "college shooter" have been present in Barnstead, Epsom, and Pittsfield, New Hampshire, the state's Department of Safety introduced. Man Hanson, 61, of Pittsfield, faces multiple charges.

An increased amount of law enforcement officials were placed at colleges in the communities on account of the signs. Multiple faculties initiated lockdowns as a precaution shortly after.

Hanson allegedly placed the indicators around the communities, the Department of Safety mentioned, however they determined there isn't a credible threat presently.

One such sign was written on a paper plate. The security division launched a photo of the plate however blurred a part of it "to guard the integrity of the investigation." 

Hanson was arrested on a felony cost of felony threatening and three misdemeanor charges including false report to regulation enforcement, false public alarm and legal threatening. He's being held in Merrimack County Jail pending a listening to scheduled for Tuesday.

No different suspects have been charged at this time.
