Speaking within the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler stated, "I do not plan on coming out for the anthem going ahead till I feel higher about the path of our nation."
In a blog put up, Kapler questioned whether or not the country's leadership is dedicated to representing its individuals's finest interests and whether the USA is truly "the land of the free and the home of the brave.""We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he referred to as "the lack of supply of the promise of what our nationwide anthem represents."
"I'm not okay with the state of this nation. I want I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I may have demonstrated what I learned from my dad, that whenever you're dissatisfied with your country, you let it be known through protest. The home of the courageous ought to encourage this."
