Investigators consider Mtula Payton was one of many alleged gang members who opened hearth in downtown Sacramento on April 3. He was taken into custody at an condo advanced, the Sacramento Police Department said in an announcement Saturday night.

“Las Vegas Metro Police Division labored with our detectives for weeks in an effort to locate Payton,” the statement stated.

It wasn’t known Sunday if Payton has an attorney who might converse on his behalf.

Payton and two others, brothers Smiley Martin and Dandrae Martin, were charged this month with murder within the slayings, in addition to weapons offenses.

Investigators offered no motive but said in courtroom paperwork that Smiley Martin and his companions recorded a web based video hours before the taking pictures, flashing guns and speaking trash from a location in rival gang territory. In it, they state their plans to move to the downtown area with the intent of opening hearth.

Three males alleged to be gang members and three women who have been harmless bystanders died within the shootout that occurred as patrons of bars and nightclubs emptied out onto downtown streets. A dozen more individuals had been wounded.

The Martin brothers, who were among the wounded, stay jailed. Attorneys for the brothers have but to touch upon their charging.

Payton, who police say is a member of a rival gang, was being held in a Nevada jail pending transport back to California.
