BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to take part in a mass faculty shooting that would have included a bombing at Berkeley High School, police say. 

The teenager was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Division mentioned in a press release. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no faculty that day. 

The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing damaging machine materials and threatening to commit against the law which can end in death or nice bodily damage.

Police said they obtained a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a capturing that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence. 

Police did not say if the teen was a student at Berkeley Excessive College.

Upon executing the search warrant, police mentioned they discovered elements to explosives and assault rifles, a number of knives, and digital gadgets that could possibly be used to create extra weapons. 

At that point, a warrant was obtained for the teen's arrest.

"School safety stays a excessive precedence for the department," police said in a press release. 

Particulars on whom the teen was attempting to recruit were not disclosed. Police stated this case remains under investigation. 

Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens instructed the college's community that the district was in shut contact with police during this investigation. 

After police confiscated the teenager's weapon components, the district relied on police experience to assess any potential ongoing threat to its schools. The district communicated with police on the scholar's whereabouts. 

"As added precautions throughout this era, we alerted our administrative and security workers about this investigation and, as is our standard observe, maintained shut contact with our BPD Faculty Useful resource Officer on the Berkeley Excessive College campus," Stephens wrote. "All through the investigation interval, we had been assured that this individual did not pose an instantaneous risk to the Berkeley High Faculty community."

The district is conducting their own investigation on this matter. 

The district might pursue disciplinary motion in opposition to the scholar. 

In addition, a city hall meeting titled: 'Tips on how to Discuss to Kids About Faculty Violence' offered by Alameda County Workplace of Education is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
